Louise Tobin is considered one of the great big band singers of the golden age of jazz music. At the height of the big band era, she was the vocalist for Benny Goodman. She also played with Will Bradley and Bobby Hackett and other well-known bandleaders.
Peanuts Hucko was a prominent musician who was accomplished on both the tenor saxophone and clarinet. Hucko’s resumé included playing with Benny Goodman, Lawrence Welk, Ray McKinley, and Louis Armstrong, among others. Peanuts Hucko and Louise Tobin were wed in 1967 performed together for over 30 years.
The Louise Tobin & Peanuts Hucko Jazz Collection includes recorded and sheet music, set lists, music arrangements, vinyl and acetate albums, reel-to-reel and cassette tapes, DAT recordings, photographs, negatives and slides, video recordings, television broadcasts, home movies, posters, concert programs and performance costumes, newspaper and magazine articles, ephemera, and memorabilia. The collection is currently being processed and is closed to researchers at this time. The Louise Tobin and Peanuts Hucko Jazz digital collection is a small selecion of items from the collection.
